“Jigoro KANO and Shisoh KANAKURI Special Exhibition” Is Now Held

A history drama, “Idaten” (Idaten is a nickname of a man who runs like lightning), depicting half Mr. Shiso KANAKURI’s lifetime has been broadcasted from 6th January 2019. Mr. KANAKURI is known as “the father of Japanese marathon”, and he graduated from the Tokyo High Normal School (now University of Tsukuba).

 

In this drama, people, places, and ages which are related to University of Tsukuba will appear. For example, Mr. Jigoro KANO (former principal of the Tokyo High-Normal School) who is known as “father of judo” and “father of education” appears in the drama as an important person who found talent of Mr. KANAKURI.

 

 

To celebrate this, “Jigoro KANO and Shiso KANAKURI Special Exhibition” is now held at multiple venues simultaneously. At each venue, many materials showing the relationship between the University and the Olympic and Paralympic Games are displayed, such as the socks which Mr. KANAKURI wore for practice. Please come and visit us.
