Professor Sanada HISASHI’s Interview “From ancient Greece to Tokyo -The things Japan Desired for the Olympic Games- “

 

The Olympic and Paralympic Games are special events for not only athletes but also venues and spectators. Including the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, Japan hosts four Olympic games in summer and winter together, which is the third largest after the US and France.

From the viewpoint of historical research, we would like to explore the factors that ancient Olympics, which is originally a ceremony with a religious meaning, was revived in modern Europe as a festival of sports and culture, and was accepted so far in Japan.
