Our professor’s activities related to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay

The professor SANADA Hisashi, University of Tsukuba, talked with Ms. ISHIHARA Satomi (Japanese actress / the Tokyo 2020 Torch Relay official ambassador) in January, 2020 about the history of the torch.

He also provided profound knowledge rerated to the torch.

Prof. Sanada is the professor, Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences, University of Tsukuba.

His research fields are sport anthropology, Olympic history, legacy of KANO Jigoro, Olympic education, and so on.

For the NHK period drama in 2019, Idaten, he was in charge of sports history review.

 

He is the chairman of TIAS (Tsukuba International Academy for Sport Studies), the director of CORE (Centre for Olympic Research and Education), the member of OPOP (Office for the Promotion of Olympic and Paralympic Activities).

And also the vice president of JOA (Japan Olympic Academy), the advisor for CEO of the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and so on.
