“The 3rd International Colloquium of Olympic Studies and Research Centres” is planned to be held in Tsukuba

“The 3rd International Colloquium of Olympic Studies and Research Centres” is planned to be held on July 21st and 22nd, 2020 in Tsukuba, Japan.

 

 

The International Colloquium of Olympic Studies and Research Centres

 

The colloquium is a quadrennial meeting. The Olympic Studies Centres in the world hold discussions about joint research and teaching initiatives at this colloquium.

 

The first International Colloquium of Olympic Studies and Research Centres was held in London in 2012. And participants agreed that a future colloquium will be held in the city or country of the forthcoming edition of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

 

 

About the Olympic Studies Centre

As part of IOC, the Olympic Studies Centre is the world source of reference for Olympic knowledge. One of their mission is to share the knowledge with the academic communities in the world and facilitate the research and intellectual exchange.

There are the Olympic Studies Centres(OSCs)in the world which are authorized by IOC.

The Centre for Olympic Research and Education, University of Tsukuba is the one of them.

About the Centre for Olympic Research and Education, University of Tsukuba(CORE)

 

CORE is the first Olympic Studies Centre which is authorized by IOC in Japan.

University of Tsukuba propels theoretical research and practical application of the Olympic Education by collaboration with 11 affiliated schools and related institutes. OSC in collaboration with educational institutions other than universities and graduate schools is rare and getting attention.

the Overview of the Past and Future Colloquiums

We would like to introduce the overview of the colloquiums

 

 

The 1st International Colloquium of Olympic Studies and Research Centres

 

When:July 25th, 26th, 2012

Where::Loughborough University (London, UK)

Host:The Centre for Olympic Studies and Research (COS&R) at Loughborough University

         The British Olympic Foundation

 

56 researchers related on the Olympics from 12 countries participated.

Representing CORE, two teachers from Elementary School and Junior High School at Otsuka, University of Tsukuba and an associate professor from the university attended.

They presented an introduction of CORE’s organization and programs in general and some practices of the Olympic education in classes at the schools through oral and poster presentations.

The 2nd International Colloquium of Olympic Studies and Research Centres

 

When:August 2nd, 3rd, 2012

Where:Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul(Porte Alegre, Brazil)

Host:Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Science, Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul

 

Professor SANADA Hisashi, the director of CORE and members attended and gave oral and poster presentation regarding the Olympic Education for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The 3rd International Colloquium of Olympic Studies and Research Centres

Where:Tsukuba International Congress Centre

Host:CORE

Co-host:OPOP(The Office for the Promotion of Olympic and Paralympic Activities, University of Tsukuba)

 

This will be the 3rd colloquium and held in Tsukuba since the Olympic and Paralympic Games is coming to Tokyo. Japan this year.

CORE is taking the lead and preparing with related organizations to make these two days fruitful for each OSC.
