Appointed as a member of the Olympic Education Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Vice President Benton was invited to join the first ever Olympism in Action Forum held on October 5-6, 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Held along the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games, the Forum addressed important topics related to sport and society through constructive dialogues with a diverse group of speakers and guests, including athletes, sports officials and researchers from around the world.

The Forum brought together the Olympic Movement stakeholders with IOC President Thomas Bach at the helm. Vice President Benton discussed Japan’s efforts as well as the University of Tsukuba’s accomplishments in education leading towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The university takes pride in having Jigoro Kano as the first Japanese IOC committee member, thus we are strongly committed to promoting the International Olympic and Paralympic Movement.
