【Update】The athletes related to University of Tsukuba were chosen as the Japan representatives who qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games!
On 24th March, 2020, the IOC’s board approved the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
We will update the information here when we have new details.
The athletes who qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games have been announced.
We would like to introduce the athletes related to University of Tsukuba.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
Mr. NAGASE Takanori(graduated from School of Physical Education, Health and Sport Science, University of Tsukuba)
He has qualified for Judo (81kg).
He won a bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The All Japan Judo Federation selected him based on his results at the several games.
On May 15th, 2020, the federation announced the qualification for 2021 will be maintained.
Ms. KAJIHARA Yumi(Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, University of Tsukuba)
She has qualified for omnium and madison of cycling track.
On June 4th, 2020, the Japan Cycling Federation (JCF) announced at the online conference.
She won a gold medal at the 2020 UCI Track Cycling World Championships.
Ms. YONAMINE Eri(graduated from School of Physical Education, Health and Sport Science, University of Tsukuba)
She has qualifies for road race and individual time trial of cycling.
On November 4th, 2020, the JCF announced.
She has won the Japan National Championship for four consecutive years, and she is ranked 21st in 2020 UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) Road World Championships held in September 2020.
She participated in the Rio 2016 Games.
Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games
Ms. SERYU Monika(School of Physical Education, Health and Sport Science, University of Tsukuba)
She has qualified for canoeing (KL1).
She was 8th place at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
She was 5th place at the 2019 ICF Canoe Sprit and Paracanoe World Championships, and got a qualification.
Ms. TEMMA Yuki(graduated from Special Needs Education School for the Visually Impaired, University of Tsukuba)
She has qualified for goalball.
She participated in athletics at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. After that, she changed a sport and participated in goalball at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
She has been a team captain since 2017.
Ms. WAKASUGI Haruka(graduated from Special Needs Education School for the Visually Impaired, University of Tsukuba)
She has qualified for goalball.
She participated in the London 2012 Paralympic Games and the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
Ms. TAKAHASHI Rieko (Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, University of Tsukuba)
She has qualified for goalball.
Based on the details of the overseas expedition, the Japan Goalball Association announced on 23rd March, 2020.
She participated in all games at the 2019 IBSA Goalball Asia-Pacific Regional Championships and contributed to the gold medal.
Mr. NOBUSAWA Yoshu (graduated from Special Needs Education School for the Visually Impaired, University of Tsukuba)
He has qualified for goalball.
Based on the selection camp, the Japan Goalball Association announced on 23rd March, 2020.
He is expected to be the mental support as well since he is the oldest in the team and has many experiences at the international competitions.
Mr. KIMURA Keiichi(graduated from Special Needs Education School for the Visually Impaired, University of Tsukuba)
He has qualified for swimming (S11, SB11, SM11).
He participated in the Paralympic Games for three times (Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016).
He won two medals at the London 2012 and three medals at the Rio 2016.
He won in swimming 100m butterfly at the London 2019 World Para Swimming Allianz Championships.
Mr. SUZUKI Toru(graduated from School of Physical Education, Health and Sport Science, University of Tsukuba / Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences)
He has qualified for high jump (T64).
He participated in the Paralympic Games for five times (Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016).
He was 4th place at the London 2012 and Rio 2016.
He won a bronze medal at the Dubai 2019 World Para Athletics Championships and got a qualification.
Ms. TAKADA Chiaki(graduated from Special Needs Education School for the Visually Impaired, University of Tsukuba)
She has qualified for long jump (T11).
She participated in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
She won silver medals at the Incheon 2014 Asian Para Games, the World Para Athletics Championships London 2017, and the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games.
She set a national record at the Dubai 2019 World Pata Athletics Championships and got a qualification.
Mr. HORIKOSHI Tadashi(graduated from Special Needs Education School for the Visually Impaired, University of Tsukuba)
He has qualified for marathon (T12).
He participated in the Paralypic Games for three times (Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016). He was 4th place in marathon at the Rio 2016.
He was 3rd place and set a Asia record at the 2019 World Para Athletics Marathon Championships and got a qualification.
Mr. HIRAI Takaaki(guraduated from Acupuncture and Physical Therapy Teacher Training School of University of Tsukuba)
He has qualifies for Judo (60kg, B3).
He participated in the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
He won a bronze medal at the 2019 IBSA Judo Asian and Oceanian Championships.
Mr. NAGAI Takamasa(graduated from Special Needs Education School for the Visually Impaired, University of Tsukuba)
He has qualified for Judo (73kg, B1).
The Japan Blind Judo Federation announced his qualification on August 26th, 2020.
He won at the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games and the 2019 IBSA Judo Asian and Oceanian Championships.
