Vice President was appointed as a Member of the Olympic Education Commission
Vice President BENTON Caroline F. was appointed as a member of the Olympic Education Commission for the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The Commission for Olympic Education advises the IOC Session, the IOC Executive Board and the IOC President on the promotion of Olympic values-based education and provides strategic direction on IOC programmes and activities related to the education of youth through sport.
The commission is composed of 29 people and its chairperson is Mr. Barry John Maister ONZM.
Ms. Miki MATHESON, an alumna of our university who studied at TIAS short-term programme (the second year of graduation), was appointed to the committee, too.

Centre for Olympic Research and Education
The University of Tsukuba (UT) has practiced and accumulated knowledge of sports science research and education. As a results, many students and graduates are successful Olympic and Paralympic athletes. As a first Olympic Studies Centre authorized by IOC in Japan, CORE inherits a proud sporting history at UT, and promotes research and practice concerning the Olympic education. CORE will cooperate with 11 Laboratory Schools (affiliated schools to the UT, including general school and special needs education school).
Tsukuba International Academy for Sport Studies; TIAS
As a part of project “Sport for Tomorrow” by Sport Agency, University of Tsukuba accepted about 15 students from all over the world for the master’s degree in sport and Olympic studies. Our aim is to develop the next generation of leaders, trained in Olympic and Paralympic education and equipped with up-to-date knowledge of international sport and advanced management skills in English.
